Re: 1992 Olympic 100 meter results
Wilma Rudolph's 1960 finals time of 11.00 would have still acquitted her well in '92. Naturally, advanced weight training and the speed of a modern "field" of competitors, synthetic surfaces would shave time off any great 1960-1964 sprinter's times in a 1992 world.

It was NOT 11.00, but 11.18 (or 11.0 with hand timing). Plus the wind was +2.76 mps. Rudolph was a great runner in her time, but let's not carried away with it.Było smaszno, a jaszmije smukwijne...

The wind-speed for the Women's 100m final was
-1.0m/s headwind! Using this calculator http://desert.jsd.claremont.edu/~newt/t ... index.html and using the correct information of venues and altitude this time is corrected to 10.75s without wind or with a still wind of +0.0m/s.

Give your source, please. That final was definitely windy, and the automatic timing gave 11.18 as the time. I took these figures from the official IAAF world records book, but you can see them in other places, too - http://www.gbrathletics.com/ic/ogw.htm is one.Było smaszno, a jaszmije smukwijne...

And here's another source that says it's windy...
http://trackfield.brinkster.net/Profile ... 4&Gender=W
Her official (hand-timed) PB is 11.2
Her best electronic timing was 11.41

As with pretty much all threads, the discussion usually goes off in a different direction to the question that's originally asked. Probably because no-one yet has the answer to your query.
Be patient, though. Someone's bound to come up with the answer soon.

Sorry I meant for the 1992 Barcelona OG Women's 100m final. I didn't copy the write sentence for my reply. Sorry for the confusion.
