... now if Bob Hayes and Jesee Owens, had Mondo tracks, today's shoes/spikes, training and the time to train fully, some competition etc ... AND had a FLAT earth ...

Nope! now I'll stop speculating in this matter cause we'll never get the answer anyway.

Because at one time, men thought the Earth was flat.

Bob Hayes would have gotten the greatest benefit from running on today's Mondo surfaces. When he ran on dirt/cinder tracks, huge clots flew up behind him as he churned up his lane. Same on the football field. I'm sure this subject has come up dozens of times, but I'm convinced Hayes' could have gone 9.70 with today's tracks, spikes, training methods, etc. One of those great 'I-don't-knows'.

I don't think so. My main reason for that is that i think that is way of running was very fitting for the conditions (mainly surface).

But It's hard, maybe if he would have grown up today with the coaches of today. At least he would have been very good probably sub 10.

If Jesse Owens in the new millenium

Considering track and field technology today as opposed to the 1930's (track surfaces, shoes, blocks, training methods, etc.) Could Jesse Owens have run faste than 9.78?
Working...
