I met former Olympic alternate (1956, 10,000m) Jerry Smartt in the early 1960's while a high school distance runner in Southern California. He was teaching school in the area and we got together for training runs. He was a mentor, teaching me a great deal and encouraging me in my ups and downs.
I lost track of Jerry years ago and recently tried to see if he still lived in the Orange County area without success. Does anyone out there know of his current status? I'd like to connect with Jerry again.
