  • Pre- Bannister 1500m/Mile video footage

I'm suprised how little film footage there is out there of the mile/1500m runners from the pre- 4 minute mile age. I'd love to see footage of Hagg/Anderson/Wooderson/Cunningham etc. Does anyone out there know
    the location of such material?

A very good question and there may not be much out there. I do remember reading (in Runners ands Races ?), that Harbig as a paratrooper in Norway, saw Hagg run and was really impressed with his smooth, effortless, style.

      --------
I purchased some 16mm film during World War II. One of the reels included footage of Wooderson during 1930s, maybe 800m rather than 1500m, plus Lovelock vs. Cunningham in 1500 at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

This reel, all track and field, is 400-feet in length and has other events. The only one that comes immediately to mind is Al Blozis in shot (with technique different than now used) and maybe discus.

Why my uncertainties above? I have not looked at this film for perhaps 50 years. I don't even know if my 16mm projector will operate after so many decades of non-use, but it's on my list of to-do track projects.
