I WILL answer, and say that I do not have the faintest idea. I had never even heard of this Batman guy until I started scanning last year's world list for Aussie names, looking for a "Robin" connection, and then BAM in the 400 list there was "Batman", and the light bulb turned on.

Van Lingle Mungo was also a song. The first time I ever heard it I went bananas. I imagine every baseball fan (or former baseball fan) of a certain age had the same reaction. I don't think it ever made the top 40 charts, though. Pity.
