  • ESPN'S 25 GREATEST ATHLETES....

A writer from ESPN has ranked the top 25 athletes of the past 25 years (the history of ESPN). http://msn.espn.go.com/page2/s/neel/040115.html

Overall, this list is very good but he left off Roy Jones, Michael Johnson, Reggie White, Walter Payton, Karch Kiraly, Edwin Moses, Deion Sanders, Andre Agassi & Bo Jackson from consideration! Remember, ESPN primarily covers North American athletes so all others are excluded.

You can go here to vote for your top 25 from this list: http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsna ... nker?id=18

    Here are my top 10:

    1. Jordan (I love Lance but this is MJ)

    2. Carl Lewis (amazing career)

    3. Gretzky (amazing career, also)

    4. Armstrong (another Tour will raise him higher)

    5. Rice (another extraordinary career)

    6. Bonds (drug suspicions withstanding)

    7. Montana (maybe greatest clutch player ever)

    8. Sampras (awesome!)

    9. Barry Sanders (despite his early retirement)

    10. Bird (great all-around)

I could only vote from the 35 candidates that are listed. (I refuse to include golfers and auto racers) Also, women need to be ranked seperately.

    Send me yours,

    Clay

I am no motor sports fan at all, but I have read in many places that these guys are indeed great athletes, as hand/eye coordination is very, very important. And of course some fellow named Tiger Woods is not a good athlete ??!!

For a golfer, Tiger is a good athlete but I'm not convinced that he's really a good athlete. He took batting practice for the Braves a few years ago and couldn't even hit one out of the infield. We doesn't have any sort of athletic background outside of golf. Gimme some examples and I may change my mind.
