Who are the following 4 people ? What did they do ? Where and when did they do it ? (I was there.)

Doug Tynan
Frank Hegarty
Armstead
Leslie Pinder

Ok Steve,

Here are my educated guesses.

Tynan - good 400m runner in early 1960's. In Fordham Hall of Fame.

Hegarty - Irish distance runner from the 20's

Ray Armstead was the 3 time MIAA indoor 400 champion

Leaslie Pinder was a British Track athlete in the 1940's and 50's.

Did I get any correct?

It is possible that you might have backed into one of them but the thrust of the question is them as a group ( Hint: it's a relay team )

A tiny correction to Rob's answer, it was 4 x 440 yards, the good old-fashioned mile realy, not 4x400m as you described it. Don't worry you still get the blue ribbon.
