Gawd, that's a great shot !!! Assuming World X-C, what year was that?
Early to mid 80's, I think.

It was 1983 and believe it or not, Bekele emerged the victor, and SomeKenyan grabbed the bronze.

So, in Gateshead in 1983, that went Debele, Lopes, Muge, Salazar, and then Deke in 6th and Porter in 9th. I recognize the Spaniard on the inside lane, but can't come up with his name. Is there a website that has all the individual placings from the IAAF X-C over the years?

                  Antonio Prieto.

There used to be a website with full results.

                  http://mypage.bluewin.ch/tomtytom/wxc_iaaf.html

If anyone knows of another, or what happened to that website, please post a link.

"DeCastella also ran well in XC World Champinship in Gateshead, England in 1983. Among the leaders were Bekele
Debele (Eth), S. Muge 197 (Ken), Carlos Lopes (Por) in blue obscured by Muge, Alberto Salazar (USA), Antonio Prieto (Spain, 333) and Deek (at the end he obtained 6th place)."

Looks like a shot putter, but the face doesn't ring any bells. Am I on the right lines with the throws...?

OK, I'll say George Woods (indoor SP AR in 1974). I'm pretty sure the nametag says "George" on it, but the last name is too blurry.

Fine guesses both, but not a thrower.
