  • Does anyone know of a track athlete with ALS (Lou Gehrig's)

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease) is thought by some to occur more often in outdoor athletes: football players, soccer players, baseball athletes..although the data are murky.

Any track athletes with the disorder?

Larry O'Neil, who won the national 100 mile racewalk back about 30 (?) years ago (when it was still held), died of ALS. If memory serves, he won the race in his late 50's and died in his mid-70's.
