  • Women's collegiate Nationals 1969-1972

In early women's college nationals there was the AIAW, before that there was the DWGS. I know what the AIAW was, but what does DWGS stand for?

Before the AIAW meet began in 1973, is was labeled the DWGS from 1969 -1972.

    Any help out there?

It wasn't the DWGS; it was the DGWS, which stood for the Division of Girls' and Women's Sports.

Here's a statistical study of the early years of women's collegiate track:

        http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/archiv ... women.html

(you'll end up linked to a long PDF that could take a while to upload)

You know what would be good, Garry. If only somebody would do a complete summary of the NCAA Championships from 1921 to date, similar to what has been done with other meets. Do we know anybody working on this?
