    I have the top five in the men's POY rankings available in a google spreadsheet.

    Notes: The voting system that we see in the annual issue came about in 1973. Prior to that, a single POY was chosen, and "honorable mention" sometimes listed, denoted by "2=".

    Italicized listings are my personal choices to round out annual top fives from 1959-72. On those, argue away!

    Nice job encapsulating all of these. It's a good reference.

    I forgot how good 1992 was. Morceli broke the 7-year-old 1500 record by over half a second and didn't get in the top 5!

      In 1995, he broke that record by another 1.5s, and that was only good enough for #5 :!:
