Xavier Carter is a 10.00/19.63/sub 45.00 guy. Those performances are just tooooooooooooo far superior to what we saw from Owens and Carr. I know Carter is 19.63 guy, he actually ran that. To go off into..."well if Owens and Carr ran on ......"...that gets tired bro..ok? The facts are this...Carter really is a 19.63 guy......ok?
Ten years from now there will be another poster on this board who will be an expert in sprinters and sprinting. He will be far superior at this to Texas as he will know far more than Texas. Not that Texas does not know a lot now, but this person will know things Texas cannot yet know because they have not yet happened. His overall depth of knowledge in sprinting will probably not be as good as Texas's overall, but he will be superior to him because it will be 10 years from now and he will know what has happened 2009-2018, which Texas does not yet know. In fact, by 2018 Texas will not even be in the top 10 of sprinting knowledge because he knows nothing about what is going to happen in the next 10 years.
We all have a little trip, mine is knowing the what, when, where and who. When it comes to that aspect of this, I'm pretty confident....ok? To get all wrapped up in what some cat in 1936 or 1964 could run today.....hmm? Put Barry Sanders back in 1936....hmm? Put Usain Bolt back in 1964...hmm?

No, but you think it should be just the all-time top 10 performer list as it exists at any moment. The only exception you seem to make for this is Bob Hayes, which is quite reasonable.

Not sure I can post a pure all-time 100 but all-time sprinters starting 8 final field would be:

                        Bob Hayes
                        Usain Bolt
                        Maurice Greene
                        Carl Lewis
                        Bobby Morrow
                        Valery Borzov
                        Jesse Owens
??? - part of me wants to say Harry Hutchens

Asafa Powell has won exactly how many major international titles at 100 metres? I believe in the Track & Field News philosophy - head-to-head competition and titles won are most important.

                              Bam

to be fair to him, he stupidly got dq'ed in prelim in '03, when he was favored to do well in the final & even if he'd been nervous for the final & tightened somewhat, i think he wouda gone faster than the 10.0+ that collins won in

he has lost the 3 global 100 finals he's been in, but slowest he has been in any of them is 9.96

a lot of his psychology may have altered if he'd reached that '03 final & possibly won it

So Lindy Remigino is superior to Steve Williams? Hasley Crawford is superior to Ato Boldon?

You do realize that Jesse Owens lost a lot and other than Metcalfe and Peacock he had little competition.
