  • Capital Idea

Eddie Tolan, Jean Shiley, Mel Pender, and Millie McDaniel all won Olympic gold medals and all were born in U.S. state capitals. Here's another: He won two Olympic gold medals and then reached for the sky. He still spends a lot of time in the sky. Who is this Olympic champion?

Bob Richards is a very good guess, however he was not born in a state capital. This athlete won his gold medals after Bob Richards won his.

Whitman got it. Very good. It is Alonzo Babers who won two gold medals in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Alonzo was born in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Today he still flies planes.
