sad to report that a man of lonewolf's stature has been caught up in this Texas sized folly. Thorpe faced the worlds best, no high schooler does the same. It is all about level of competition and no one has faced Thorpe.

You might wanna look back over history a little better if you really believe.."no high schooler does the same.....that simply isn't true. Ever heard of Betty Robinson who was just a 16 year old HS student when she won the Oly 100m in 1928? Ever hear of Francis Hussey? Wasn't Dwayne Evans 17 and a HS student in 1976, taking an Oly 200m bronze? Don Quarrie was only 17 when he made his first Olympic team. Didn't Jeff Demps run against the best the US had just last year?

So what great future NFL defenders did Thorpe face during his days at Carlisle?

I was aware of all of those Olympic sized HSer but felt free to make the above statement because the context warranted it... it still does, I stand by my statement. One can always find the exceptions, and not surprizing they are always exceptional.


To lonewolf, I am on record as placing you as one of the top 3 posters on this board, you are a treasure, heck Im on record as considering Tex a dear friend. I have nothing but the warmest of regards and deepest respect for you. I stand by my assessment of Thorpe. I think Per has it right on this one.
