that article says jao's jump was ~ 18m, whereas other reports have indicated 17.60/17.70

so which is it ?

funny thing, if you watch the video of Udumae (sp) winning jump you can just as easily (as was done to de'Olivera and Campbell) call a "sleeping leg" infraction. very spooky.

Someone remind me, when was the "sleeping leg" rule dropped from the books? Was it even on the books in 1980?

It was dropped some time in the '80's, IIRC. Definitely after the 1980 OG.
