easy, its, Shorter, Lismont, and Wolde all in 72, where each also medaled before or after, Wolde in 68, the other 2 in 76. Other repeaters were Cierpinski 76 and 80, Wainana 96 and 00 and Bikila 60 and 64

                    Interesting notes:

Getting faster didn't usually mean a better place.

Bikila (60-64) ran faster (2:15:17 and 2:12:12 both WR's) and won gold both times.

Wolde (68-72) ran faster (2:20:27A and 2:15:09)but fell two spots from Gold to Bronze.

Shorter (72-76) ran faster (2:12:20 and 2:10:46) but fell one spot from Gold to Silver.

Lismont (72-76) ran faster (2:14:32 and 2:11:13) but fell one spot from Silver to Bronze.

Cierpiniski (76-80) ran slower (2:09:55 and 2:11:03) but held on to the Gold.

Wainaina (96-00) got faster (2:12:44 and 2:10:31) and moved up one spot from Bronze to Silver (will he get Gold in 2004?)

Mota (84-88) got faster (2:26:57 and 2:25:40)and moved up two spots from Bronze to Gold.

Valentina (92-96) got faster (2:32:41 and 2:28:09) and fell one spot from Gold to Silver.

Arimori (92-96) got faster (2:32:49 and 2:28:39) and fell one spot from Silver to Bronze.

                        Re: Olympic Trivia v 2

Karel Lismont and Yuko Arimori appear to be strangely tied in Olympic History.

Both have won two Olympic marathon medals. Both won Silvers in a year ending with a 2. Both won Bronzes in a year ending with a 6. Both ran faster the second time by several minutes. Both finished behind the same person each time (Shorter and Valentina). Both are one of only two people of their sex to win an Olympic marathoning medal from their countries.

                        Ohhhh ....... Spooky!

maybe that should be a new SAT question.

                          Arimori is to Valentina as......

                          A) peanut butter is to jelly
                          B) hj197steve is to marknhj
                          C) Asterix is to debating
                          D) Lismont is to Shorter
                          E) Ben is to Garry
                          F) None of the above

japan's more likely to get a 3rd medalist than Belgium??

has Belgium ever received and Olympic medal, by either sex, since 1976??

speaking of belgians, why no discussion of the decline and fall of Red devil distance running..

Puttemans and Cav Damme and Lismont and it's been a long time since!!
