  • Decathlete of nations....

    Looking for others' input here!

Just out of pure curiosity/boredom/weirdness, I was wondering which nation has the best decathlon score, but as a 'joint effort' kinda thing. Basically, I'm looking for the best decathlon marks (set by decathletes scoring 7,500+) by athletes from various nations. As with normal decathlons, wind-aided mark are allowable. Also, only marks set in decathlon competitions are allowed.

So, to start it all off, Britain's scoring would be:

    100m - Daley Thompson - 10.26 (1032)
    LJ - Daley Thompson - 8.11mw (1089)
    SP - Daley Thompson - 15.73m (835)
    HJ - Alex Kruger - 2.17m (963)
    400m - Duane Ladejo - 46.12 (1002)
    110mH - Daley Thompson - 14.04 (969)
    DT - Barry King - 51.64m (905)
    PV - Daley Thompson - 5.10m (941)
    JT - Ken Hayford - 65.58m (822)
    1500m - Eugene Gilkes - 4:16.36 (837)

    TOTAL - 9395

Was quite surprised to see that Dean Macey doesn't make any impression on the list!

          Re: Decathlete of nations....

Jon, I'm getting concerned. Most teenagers would be looking at porn sites at almost 3am, not compiling decathalon scores.

              Jon,
In a cursory look at your US list, the SP is Russ Hodge at 18m+, he had 17.25 in his 8119 (convert to 85 tables) PR. I couldn't find Zeke's book (buried under something) so I will try the US list when I find it. I don't remember what his cutoff for a "serious" deca is, but I think it is at least 7500.
