Cal Berkeley's Edwards Stadium Question

When did it stop being known as Edwards Field and become Edwards Stadium? You can find a lot of references online to both, including original architect info calling it Edwards Field. The SI story about Ryun's 3:51.3 calls it Edwards Stadium, as does the official Cal web site.

It was Edwards Stadium as early as mid-April 1932, which was it's inaugural year. Edwards Field and Edwards Stadium seem to be used interchangeably ever since.

Before 1932, Cal had competed at a site called California Oval. Anyone know where that was?
