  • Was Jerome Millet a 1992 Olympian?

Jerome Millet, 40, has been added to the masters exhibition 110H field at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18.
    http://masterstrack.com/blog/005510.html

A Google search shows him coaching soccer or track at several Los Angeles-area colleges, and they all say he ran hurdles for France in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

But my main Olympic reference site shows no Jerome or Millet in athletics at Barcelona:
    http://www.sports-reference.com/olympic ... rch=Jerome

So my question: How does Jerome justify calling himself an Olympian?

Olympedia (the most comprehensive olympic database) lists no Jerome Millet on its site. Another embellished CV, imagine that!

Olympedia is the private site from which the data on sports-reference/olympics comes. Mostly the same data, but Olympedia has a lot more on it.

The bio on the web site of Cal State - LA, where he apparently coaches now, mentions the Olympic credential, It also says he was the French National Champion three times; in fact he was never the French National Champion.

I'm not a resident of the state of California, but if I were, I'd turn this over to the University and also the Attorney General of California.

We've caught some great liars here and I hope we continue to do so. I still think the gal in upstate NY who claimed she was Olympic Champion in the 200 in a newspaper interview was the most flagrant... anyone remember ?

This, unfortunately, shows that people think nobody cares about track & field or the Olympics and that the data is not out there. Hopefully, we'll change that.

I just checked a few other sources.

1992 FRA Team Book at Barcelona - no Jerome Millet listed.
1992 L'Equipe de France d'Athletisme Team Book - no Jerome Millet listed.
1992 ATH Official Results - no Jerome Millet listed among entrants

I no longer have my ATFS annuals going back that far.

I do. The 1992 world list goes down to 13.99 and includes 14 Frenchmen. No Jerome Millet. The guy's a total fraud.

I have several sources that I have checked and can not find his name in any of the sources. Maybe he was in a different sport in Barcelona.

Checked a French annual for the '91 season, the most recent I have.

Millet (born in 1969) ran 14.07 in '91, good for #14 on the French list that year.

No, he's clearly claiming to have been an Olympic hurdler.
