    In the 1930s when Eulace Peacock and Ralph Metcalfe were running, I wonder how many black students--let alone fast sprinters--attended Marquette or Temple? I would imagine there were not many blacks at all, let alone Olympic caliber sprinters.

    However, in my book, Georgia Tech's giant 6' 5" Perrin Walker is World #1, 1937. Walker won the National-AAU 100 that year beating a stellar field easy, with Ben Johnson 2nd. Walker's semi-final stood out by .20. Competing on the American team in Europe in 1938, Walker won a slew of races defeating many of the Europeans.
