  • Two 44 Yr. old record teams being honored at Kansas Relays

In l965 at Kansas Relays two 2mile relay records were set within a time span of 20 minutes. Both records still stand today, 44 years later. The foursome of Jim Metcalf, Tom Von Ruden and brothers Dave and John Perry of Oklahoma State ran a 7:21.2 and Jim Ryan anchored his Wichita East team in a 1:47.7 leg and set a National Prep record of 7:42.9.

This year the two teams are being recognized for their accomplishments.

Oklahoma State's team went undefeated in the two mile relay that year and established both indoor and outdoor world records. The outdoor world record was held by Great Britain's national team.
