I heard something similar re: Ovett's kids. They found out from friends, or something like that.

[edit] here is the original post from buckeye II.

Bam, any idea who the oldest American trackster is at this point?

(movie buffs will know well Rampling's daughter, Charlotte, of course)
We get asked things like this a lot. It is very difficult to prove oldest living because we may be missing a date of death for a deceased athlete. Here are the USA Olympic track & field Olympians from 1932-36 for whom we have no date of death. We are fairly certain everybody from 1924-28 is deceased, although we miss about 3 dates.

    Grant MacDougal 1932 12 October 1910
    John Brooks 1936 31 July 1910
    Gloria Russell 1932 24 January 1912
    Bill W. Miller 1932 1 November 1912
    Edwin Turner 1932 15 September 1912
    Evelyn Furtsch 1932 17 April 1914
    Alice Arden 1936 23 July 1914
    Bob Young 1936 15 January 1916
    Lou Zamperini 1936 26 January 1917
    Kathlyn Kelly 1936 30 August 1919

I know Zamperini is still alive. Anybody know about the others? You can help us out here. Alice Arden is Russ Hodge's mother so something might be out there about her.
