Very good Whitman. Today is the birthday of Herman Brix (Bruce Bennett). Herman took the silver medal in the shot put in 1928. The winner (John Kuck) set a new world record of 52 feet 3/4 inch. Brix had won the Olympic Trials while Kuck was third at the trials. Happy birthday Herman Brix (Bruce Bennett).

Well not Johnny Weissmuller - he did swimming.

    Herman Brix ( Bruce Bennett)

Took Silver in the shot put in the 1928 Olympics.

He was Tarzan in Edgar Rice Burroughs's 1935 film under his real name Herman Brix. He got type casted, so changed his name to Bruce Bennett

Bit of trivia- Played the rival prospector James Cody in the iconic 1948 film "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" with Humphrey Bogart .

    8-)

That would be Herman Brix who had changed his name to Bruce Bennett
by the time he played Tarzan. One of the most succesful athletes to ever cross over to acting.

    No Gold, No Jane

Our birthday athlete today (Tuesday) would be 103 years if he were still alive. Usually the birthday athletes have won Olympic gold medals, however today's athlete won an Olympic silver medal. This athlete went to the University of Washington and later changed his name. He went into show business and made some pretty good motion pictures, not counting Tarzan. You know him. Who is our birthday boy today?
