  • Actors, other famous folk?

Is there any data out there showing T&F times/results for famous folk? High School or College times/results from actors/singers/infomercial-stars?

Just thought that might make for some interesting reading...

Not an actor or celeb, well, maybe a celeb, (he did a movie) at the same 1947 Cal state meet, 5th in the Shot, Bob Matthias from Tulare at age 16.

OK, the NCAA storm-delayed results are slow going, so let's really get this thread rolling.

How about Wilt Chamberlain, who, at a Kansas dual meet his frosh year (in high-top Converse All-Star B-ball shoes) cleared 7 feet, threw the shot over 60, tripled over 50, and ran a 47 flat quarter on the relay team !?!

And then he went in the gym and won a bet by jumping up to reach a silver dollar placed on top the backboard. And then he did something even better, but I forget what it was.

I thought this was about actors/movie celebs. Did I miss Wilt's movie?
I guess you could say he's a celeb.

I was thinking about lesser known actor/track athletes, some who did well, but were never thought of as really good at sport because few people ever knew what they accomplished earlier in their lives.

Maybe I missed the point of the first post. If so, I'll back off this thread.

You must not watch a lot of late night TV. He stared with Conan O'Brien and Gov. Ahnuld in "Cohan the Barbarian," a remake of "Yankee Doodle Dandy," the life story of James Cagney after he gave up riding Thoroughbred and changed his name from Todsloan Hunter.

Wilt later married Sandahl Bergman (I believe she was number 10,485 on his bed) and produced a love child named Trevor Airza, who now stars for the Los Angeles Lakers.

yrekan: Don't back off. You are not the crazy one here, mrbowie and I are just being jerks!

Back to the real topic here: to my previous list of Bruce Bennett,
Dennis Weaver, Bruce Dern I'll add John Raitt.

And I'll award extra credit if you can identify their competitive events and some of the roles each one played. This could be tough, depending on your age.

He left the silver dollar standing on its edge on top of the other backboard.

Dern's a bit of a stretch.... he was a bit-part runner who once ran in the Penn Relays but isn't that about the extent of his "athletic career"?

I mean somebody once said they ran the low hurdles against John Fogerty (Creedence) of El Cerrito High as a prep.
