I have looked at the tape over and over, and have come to the conclusion that it was not an accident. The whole race Zola was running next to Mary like she was her mama, not giving her any room.As a matter of fact she was all over the place. As far as Im concerned Mary is the gold medal winner.Yeah I Know my opinion doesnt count but that [email protected]$%&^ruined Marys Legacy

Why would you hold a grudge for something Slaney has let go of? She and Budd have met, talked and are not enemies in the slightest. On the contrary, Budd became a huge part of Slaney's legacy... both of their lives and careers would forever be altered as a result of that collision.
I advise you to read the following short article:

I have to admit that willjr has mystified me yet again.
Puh-leeze explain the physics of exactly how Budd pushed Decker when Budd was in front of Decker at the time of the fall.
Yes, I have watched the video, seen it lots of times. And every single time I see Decker run up on Budd from behind, boxed in and apparently oblivious to the runner directly in front of her. Then Decker runs into Budd from behind, trips up and nearly takes Budd down with her.
I have never seen Budd turn and push Decker. I'll go watch the video again and see if it has changed....
Hmmm, nope. This time Mary still runs into Budd and Budd still does not turn around to push anyone.

Well of course the IAAF is biased. Probably the USTFA too. Look how many years it took to figure out the East German block. Remember how much of a hard time the media gave Shirley Babashoff (arguably Mary's counterpart in swimming). But Shirley was right. Face it guys, you don't like the fact that Mary accelerated the sport.
