  • Galen Rupp is the new god of oregon

Pre will always be remembered, but it is time to pass the torch to Galen and see how far he can bring american distance running.

At this rate, Rupp will overtake Pre---as the most overrated runner of all times...

The only thing that can stop Rupp now is if Zola Budd pushes him down during a race.

Since the thread is on the historical forum, does that mean Rupp is now history?
          Było smaszno, a jaszmije smukwijne...

I think one of the persons who would be uncomfortable and even opposed to this thread is Galen Rupp.

The problem with annointing gods is that when they act all too human, we mere mortals are soooo disappoint'd.

Partially true: The old Greek, Norse, Egyptian, whatnot, gods have been
largely out-classed by monoteistic gods; however, the former are so much
more interesting than the all-boring Big-Beard-in-the-Sky---largely because
they often behaved like humans who happened to have stumbled into divine
powers. (I know comparatively little about the extant Indian religions, but
it is my impression that the members of the Indian Pantheon are also
                    somewhat more human-like in personality.)

Didn't we already decide that Jesus Christ would beat Pre and Rupp in a race. How would that work if Rupp was actually God??

People like Rupp, they just don't think he is the new god quite yet. Some don't even think that runners are gods!
