Though cleared by USATF, in the end I think the IAAF bought the test as it rescinded Slaney's medal from World Indoors ('97).

Odd that the USATF site wouldn't have Sandra Farmer-Patrick listed.

    Thanks for your input guys.
    Re- Juan Nunez.
    1. He is shown as suspended by the IAAF on page 71 of 1986 ATFS annual.
    2. In an article 'googled' from newspaper dated December '83, it mentions the
positive test for fencamfamine( should that be phencamfamine). It also states
    that early reinstatement was probable.
    3. Whether it was a stimulant or not really doesn't matter, if it illegaly aided his
performance how come the ban presumably came in Dec83 and why wasn't
    his medal taken away.
Actually the more you dig the murkier this becomes. Several USA athletes on
the way to the 83 Pan Ams or who had recently arrived , took flight and returned
to the USA before any 'in competition' testing could take place.
Maybe the IAAF could put some information forward which would clarify their
historical policy on 'Drug testing and its penalties'.
Personally i don't think they will and it seems to be a hit and miss approach as
to who is reported as sanctioned in their 'Newsletter'.

And as regards Ben Johnson performances i'm deleting them from 82-88 lists. If any one else confesses , i'll do the same. Finally any further info would be much appreciated.

I also see him listed as a medallist in the 1987 Pan Am Games. How could he have done that if he got a life ban in '83?
I suspect that at least one of his suspensions was for a stimulant, which if I recall correctly was given the same length penalty as a steroid. When the penalties were changed, it may be that his life ban was lifted.

Looking back at athletes getting caught using PED's brought about this enquiry.

And what about Ben Johnson he admitted taking PEDs from 1981 should we alter all the subsequent yearlists.
Does this go on and on and on.
    Help my head hurts again!!!!

    Doping offences listed

iamb asked, ""Does anyone know if there is a definitive listing to show which athletes have been banned for doping offences? I thought there would be something on the IAAF site, but couldn't see it."

    Try these: http://www.iaaf.org/antidoping/sanctioned/index.html

    http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/Anti...nned_11135.xls
The latter link shows 118 names.

    As new names emerge they are published in IAAF newsletter. For example, see page 2 of the latest newsletter (issue 104) at;

    http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/News...s104_11163.pdf

The IAAF website has its newsletters archivd back to Februray 2000 (which, on page 16, shows doping sanctions then}. The link is:

    http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/imported/19428.pdf

I thought there would be something on the IAAF site, but couldn't see it. In many of their athlete's bios it mentions periods of ineligibility, but then I noticed there are no comments for the likes of Ben Johnson, Tim Montgomery or Justin Gatlin ! (which seems like a bit of an omission)

The USATF site has a current list for US athletes...

    http://www.usatf.org/about/legal/antido ... nsions.asp

I also found this on wikipedia...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sp ... g_offences

...but it doesn't show dates and doesn't seem definitive.
    Steroid Nation has a list - http://grg51.typepad.com/steroid_nation/
