Is it possible to obtain back issues of T&FN? If so, how?

    Re: back issues of T&FN

GH mentioned some time ago that a bunch would be available, but we haven't heard any more about it. What's up GH?

other than what T&FN might have available there is E Bay and asking on this Board. Of course price becomes a factor with regards to any of these 3 sources as well.

I have all issues, and a housein which to store them.

I have no wife, no dog. The price for both appears too steep.

              Satch, I have no dog.

About 8 of my 1948/1949/1950 issues are copies, that T&FN made at their end, then sold to the public back in the late 60's. But yes, counting them I do indeed have them all.

                Re: back issues of T&FN

I think there is a guy in the UK that deals in athletics books and magazines. I'll dig out an old AI and see if he has an ad. The AAF Library (now moved from Butler to LA) accepts donations of track publications. Any T&FN issues which they don't need for their reference collection are available for sale or trade. You might consider trying that. The contact is (was as of last year):

                Wayne Wilson [email protected]
                AAF Library
                2141 W Adams Blve
                Los Angeles, CA 90018

I only started following track and field seriously in about 1975, so I have a run only back that far. Actually, I think I may be missing one or two from '75. I didn't subscribe until '78.

I'm looking for a copy of the June 1997 issue, anybody have any suggestions?
                  I appreciate your help.

                    Re: back issues of T&FN

A question for GH: Do you know how many subscribers there were in 1948? Or rather, how many copies (roughly) were printed of each issue in that first year?

I too, am interested in how many issues of 1948 were ever printed.

I found the UK source for used books and magazines.

                            Len Lewis
                            Plas y Coed
                            3 Smithy Meadow
                            Guilsfield, Welshpool Powys SY21 9ND
                            Wales
                            UK

                            [email protected]

This info is a couple years old (I grabbed the first available AI) so try the email first (duh).

No idea: the records of the early years of the magazine are pretty fuzzy.
