I ran four years H.S. cross-country and track in Orange County, and then a lot of summer all-comers meets at Costa Mesa H.S. and Corona Del Mar H.S. in 1968-70.

I wasn't as fast as these elite California runners but I followed them and it was fun to see that Ralph Serna took some initiative to get them together after all these years.

Very cool stuff. Rich Kimball was HUGE when I first started running T&F, and went to school about 15 miles away.

Thanks for all those photos - really brings back memories! The reunion was great. Since I have a brother 5 years older than me, I got to meet some of the runners I looked up to when I first started running myself. This time there was a huge group. Smaller groups have gotten together several times in the past few years, including attending the 2008 California State Meet and this year's CIF Masters meet together. As more people hear about it, the group gets larger and larger. Ralph Serna is amazing in all the information he gathers, trivia questions he poses to all of us, and generally keeping track of the group.

have college teammate/friend who went (he serendipitously found out about it from a random meeting with ???) and said it was close to a who's who of SoCal runners in 60s and 70s - and their hoping for many more in 2 yrs. I guess much of the participation was due to word of mouth and Ralph is spearheading an even broader base contact effort in future. Cept these guys look pretty old. Shoulda had a 5k race ... er maybe 3k ... er maybe one mile ... er maybe just tell war stories - which is what they did - I hear.

                great idea
