    Mark Reed, ranked 10th in the US in the HJ in 1988, has just been named head of Country Day School in Charlotte, a large and prominent private school. He is the first African-American in that position. See this article.

    I think Mark was 7th in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis in 1988. The Director of Special Events at Charlotte Country Day School is Paulette Beatty, wife of the first person to run a sub-four minute mile indoors.

        Mark was also US Junior Champion in 1984, at 7 2 1/2 (2.20).
