  • Olympic/WCh double trivia Q

There are two standard events in which nobody has ever won gold in both OG and WCh. Can you name them?

Women's SC doesn't count, since it hasn't been around long enough.

Interestingly, during the last 11 years nobody has won multiple outdoor global golds of any type in either event.

You got it. Of course had Kipketer been allowed to compete in 1996, things would likely have been different, but the fact is nobody was ever both Olympic and world champion in this event.
        One down, one to go.

          and men's Shot

John Godina and Werner Gunthor both won many times but never became Olympic champions...

Yup. That's the more surprising one, I think. Six people have won gold in one and silver in the other, but no one got the double. Majewski missed his chance by 12 cm in Berlin...

Well, Marion Jones WAS both world and Olympic champion, even if she has now been stripped of her titles.

Godina, Timmerman, Barnes, Nelson, Cantwell and Majewski have all won gold/silver...

Does that make it three, then?

I think I phrased my question in such a way as to exclude this from being a correct answer. Marion did win gold at both WCh and OG, even if she was later stripped of both titles. But it's a good point.
