The American team in Berlin wore his initials. Today (Saturday) is his birthday. One of the most famous American track and field athletes in history was born today some 96 years ago. What is your favorite Jesse Owens' story?

When I was in 8th grade he spoke at my high school's athletic banquet. Quite surprising to get him for a small southern Minnesota high school. Great speaker, as I recall.

I never met him, but I sure wish I had. I know several people who did meet him and they all said he was a wonderful man.

It was really strange being in the stadium last month where he made Olympic history.
