Also correct for 14 points, putting tandfman on the board.

                Horace Ashenfelter for Collegeville?

If I am right, given Dave's historical bent and Philly location, the key for the other two from PA are mid-20th century or earlier Pennsylvanians?

Correct on Ashenfelter for 15 points and a tie for 4th.

Paul Wilson was from Warren HS in Downey.
Do I get any points for a correction to a wrong answer?

By the way, I finally gave in to my frustration of not knowing the Haverford or Brown Prep answers, and I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have come up with them on my own (I actually hadn't heard of the Haverford athlete). Obviously I won't post the answers.

                              No one is ineligible.

Let me rephrase that: nobody is ineligible. Both no one and noone are perfectly eligible.

The key is no research. But if we get to the last few names and we've gone 10 hours or more, I'll start offering clues, at least until we have a quiz winner.

In the interest of prolonging clueless agony, I would submit Jack Davis as the Hoover (Glendale) candidate.
