Uh, Bear and Bill Carr seem a little unclear as to which thread they are in.

uh, Charles Jenkins and his son are not only both Olympians, but gold medalists I believe (son won one as part of the relay pool)

    Jon got it.

Alice competed in the Berlin HJ. I believe she was a 3 times US HJ champ. Russ competed in the Tokyo Decathlon. Set WR in '66, 8230. Was he ever a US champ? Even if not, he did best his mother's best HJ mark.

Are there any other mother/child US Olympians?

    Dmitriy Valyukevich's mother, Irina, was a 7.17m LJ'er.

Dmitriy jumped 17.57m last year in the TJ.

Danny Ecker, GER (PV 6.00) '00 Olympian. If you need to be told about his mom's Olympic accomplishments, you need to find another board.

Pyotr Bochkaryov, RUS (PV 5.90) '96 Olympian, his mother was an Olympic thrower I think.

Steven Hooker. AUS (PV 5.65) qualified for the '04 AUS Olympic team a few weeks ago, his mother was in the LJ in '72.

Hmm... now that means that he was either a HJ'er too, or he was a decathlete. Either way, he was a WR holder in his event (like you say), so that should narrow things down a bit....

The Lawler-Lewis information is great, but Mrs. L was not an Olympian.

More hints as to the US combo: He also high-jumped at the Olympics.

Another hint: She was a high jumper, he held the world record in his event.

The USA combo I am thinking of is more difficult than the fine examples given so far – Different last names.

Karin and Falk Balzer: the mother won gold in '64 and bronze in '72; the son made the semis in 2000.
