Re: Trivia: Isinbayeva = What Man?

If the picture of Isinbayeva is from the Swedish TV site (SVT.SE) that e-pelle posted, then the picure is definitely from the 4.86 jump and not the 5m jump. It says over the picure that she attempted 5m but they don't have a picture of that.
I have watched the video clips on that site over and over and I am convinced that she would have cleared at least 4.90 in her record jump.
They report that the 5m attempt was not close.

Remembered she only took one at 5m. after hitting "post reply". I saw a picture that was purported to be her attempt at 5m. and she looked close...always suspected it was an earlier height. We'll see tomorrow.

    Not a chance! She's a

Most of the PV women are! Am greatly looking forward to seeing her jumps tomorrow, especially the 5m. attempts. Like you I thought there was zero chance this year but she was apparently quite close. I didn't think 5m. was likely until about 2006. Rawson will probably do a football crossbar analogy!

I think this thread needs renaming. When I first saw it I subconciously inserted a comma ( What, Man?) and thought she was being outed as a guy. The other possible interpretation is unmentionable here.

    Trivia: Isinbayeva = What Man?

Everybody remembers the "barrier breakers" but keeping track of a whole record progression is a lot tougher. Other than oldvaulter who (without looking it up) can tell us who the first man was to vault 15-11 1/4 (i.e., 4.86)?
Working...
