I have Patton in the 200m. As we know that's where he won his Oly gold. I wanted to show USC's depth so I limited one individual event per athlete.

You'd think some of those SEC schools could hang with USC/UCLA....no not really.

Not surprising. Here's a list of your athletes in individual events who were at USC before the SEC began integrating:

          100: Charley Paddock, Frank Wykoff
          200: Mel Patton, Payton Jordan
          400: Mike Larrabee, Jim Lea
          110H: Dick Attlesey, Jack Davis
          LJ: Wesley Clayton

There was a time when Southern U would smoke LSU in a 4x1 and Texas Southern would blow U of Texas away in a 4x1. Yep, those big schools finally came to their senses.

The first great sprinter from the SEC was probably Harvey Glance from Auburn.

When you get a chance you can download the USC media guide. Just about all this info is there.

And every track meet has the results in some newspaper. Jim Thorpe and Jesse Owens have had movies made about their life. Yet we still talk about this stuff.....right?

No not really, I just wonder why anyone bothers to respond to things that don't interest them. I don't!

                            Re: USC inter-squad...

I'm not sure I understand the logic of including some old-timers (Paddock, Wykoff, Jordan, and maybe Patton and Attlesey qualify as old-timers though they are contemporaries to me) and omitting others in favor of moderns who have nothing like their honors-won and competitive records: Olympians Howard Drew, Charles Borah and Foy Draper in the sprints, Cliff Bourland in the 200 or 400, Edgar Ablowich and Al Fitch in the 400, Roy Staley and Art Barnard in the high hurdles, Dick Barber in the broad jump. Non-Olympians such as Vic Williams (wr) and Hubie Kerns (relay wr) in the 400, Staley's hurdling partner Phil Cope. I have no more than scratched the surface.
