Re: Favourite stadium with a track inside

I like any old stadium in which many of the old vistas remain.

That negates Berlin with the new canopy, but also because at last year's WC the open end between the two towers on the second turn was closed off with a screen. The screen (and the canopy) destroyed the visual impact of the twin towers, with the vista of the enormous parade ground beyond.

I suspect my favorite Euro stadium remains Stockholm, as it seems to have undergone fewer changes than most old stadiums in the large Euro cities.

And of course, there is Franklin Field!

Other than those, I like the small parks with single or double grandstands: Bern, Malmo, Koblenz, Vancouver, Eugene.

I don't want to destroy your sterling reputation, but we have a very similar viewpoint. Stockholm is just magical because it hasn't really been messed with in all these years--it has both an openness and an intimacy that, together, are just beautiful. I love the older, small stadiums--I've never been in the Bern stadium (I have seen it from a distance) or Malmo or Koblenz, but maybe someday...
