I will never understand why people have this need to pretend. I have no problems at all talking about the differences in us. Hell yes we are different! To act like we aren't.....why? Blacks are the speedsters on this planet now who in the hell doesn't know that? We need to ...pretend...that isn't the case.....why? I've never seen a great Mexican 100m man. Have you? Where are those Asian sub10.00 sprinters? Why does ...reality...need to be swept under the rug? Noibody is saying anything demeaning or disrespectful or degrading. Facts are facts no need to play pretend.
Nobody denies that certain genes will give you a certain advantage. Racial classification is an entirely different matter alltogether. Even with "pure races", there is so many different categories, while in the rapidly racialy integrating world, the whole concept makes absolutely no sense.
You actually get whites, blacks and Asians confused? I don't!
Yes we do have different races. I can tell them apart....honest!
Rabbit hole? You have a hard time talking about real life? Why?
We've done this foolishness before. I have no interest in playing these games with you.
If there are any games being played you're playing alone. To go to a basketball game/football game or a track meet (here in America) and not notice that the quick speedy athletes are black is simply life. You might need to play a game, I don't! Never ignore the facts. Have a nice day.
Tell that to the students at Grambling, Alcorn, Florida A&M, Mississippi Valley, Jackson State and Tuskegge Institute. Also run that by the editors of Ebony Magazine and those who gave us Motown.....sheesh!
It really is incredible this need to...."we aren't the same????"
Defining ethnicity is beyond my ken and it is getting more jumbled all the time but I am with Avante on this. I do not see anything demeaning or insulting about recognizing the obvious predominate superiority of a race or culture in various disciplines.
I don't think it is demeaning either. It is obvious that athletes with a certain characteristic are better than others. But once you start coming up with lists, official or unofficial, it feeds into a rat hole that I have been down before. Nothing good can come out of it, and the best thing that can happen is just pointing out the obvious.

The problem is that "race" really doesn't have any scientific meaning. "Black skin" has some everyday, relative meaning, but it is simple to the point of simple minded. For the twenty millionth time, if we're serious about this stuff--and most everyone on these boards is NOT serious--then we must deal with genetic populations, not fuzz-ball notions of ethnicity or race. It's a fact that black Africans are superb sprinters and lousy distance runners. It's also a fact that black Africans are superb distance runners and lousy sprinters. If we leave our categories at this level, we've proven absolutely nothing.
And, again for the twenty millionth time, any focus on purely "genetic" or physiological traits ignores social environments/traits that may be of relatively high importance.
I propose that if we've learned anything in the last few decades, it's to laugh out of the room anyone who starts talking seriously about absolute "racial" characteristics. I'm laughing right now, but not in a nice way.

Social, cultural, enviornmental simply doesn't work. You put black athletes in Great Britian, France, Canada and the USA and they run the fastest. Nigerians have ran a dozen or so sub10.00's while no white/Asian has. Then there's that size with speed. Guys like Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker and Curtis Dickey. We only see that sort thing from the black world. Then there's the tall with speed like Usian Bolt, Randy Moss, Tommie Smith, Steve Williams and others, once again we only see that in the black world. Social, cultural and enviornmental doesn't give us great breakaway runners like Gale Sayers, Devin Hester, Josh Cribbs etc etc etc. It's all about physical characteristics unique to those with roots back to western Africa. Blacks were blessed with certain physical traits that give them an edge in speed. quickness and agility. In his book...ENDZONE...Don DeLillo writes...
(talking about Taft Robinson the first black running back at a white Texas college)
"But mostly he could fly, he had sprinters speed, a 9.3 clocking in the hundred. Speed is the last excitement left, the one thing we haven't used up, still naked in it's potential, the mysterious...black gift...that thrills the millions"

You're arguing against a point nobody is making. Yes, there is strong evidence people from the Gulf of Guinea region have sprinting talent. But if black skin is enough to make you fast, where are the sprinters from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Congo, Angola etc.?

That's not what I'm saying. You think I really think all blacks are fast? What I'm saying is that the fastest humans will be black.
why is this discussion always cased in the fact 'black' people are so different
why not comment on northern european throwers
the idea that africans are superior in middle distances is also nonsense. europeans were running sub 3.30 1500m 25 years ago do don't tell me there is no-one in the last quarter of a century who could have impoved on that. there are sociological reasons for the demise of european distance running that have nothing to do with race.
i can't believe i'm actually commenting on this nonsense
