A true waste of brain cells and electrons is thinking other factors besides race enter into this. It is all about race. The fastest sprinters on earth...negroid. Nothing else matters. Now that's not saying all those in the negroid race are fast. It's all about %. More......from that race are fast.

Let's take the USA for an example. What 13% are Afro Americans? Of that 13% let's say 7% are between the ages of 16-30. So a mere 7% of a population has about 95% of all the speed positions in athlectics covered. This isn't about race? Hell yes it is!

Oh my God. Are you truly incapable of READING what anyone else has said--or of comprehending it? Clearly the answer is no.

Avante, your 'creative' use of the terminology and wish to over generalise makes an otherwise interesting debate about genetics and speed worthless. What kuha and pego have written above is perfectly correct.

As we're well aware, the category "black" or "negroid" or "African" covers such diverse genetic populations as to be practically meaningless. I suspect, from a scientific point of view, that the whole exercise is more akin to astrology than astronomy.....

Nobody denies that certain genes will give you a certain advantage. Racial classification is an entirely different matter alltogether. Even with "pure races", there is so many different categories, while in the rapidly racialy integrating world, the whole concept makes absolutely no sense.

Why can't you engage in the discussion without resorting to false stereotypes?

When all we see when it comes to the big 100m race is blacks filing all the lanes, what do you think Daisy? It's ...false stereotyping...to trust in what we are seeing? Here in America no white sprinter has ever ran a sub10.10. Yet we've seen a ton of black sprinters accomplish that feat. Nobody is stereotyping anything. I'm simply going with the facts of the situation. Everywhere we find black sprinters they rule. It can be California, Jamaica, Canada, Texas, Florida, Portugal, Nigeria, Great Britian etc, it doesn't matter.

I'm not going to get all wrapped up..."well Kenyans are black and they aren't great sprinters"....why would I or anyone else? The bottom line is very simple. When it comes to breaking world sprint records and winning Olympic/World sprint medals it's going to be black sprinters doing it most of the time. That is a fact Daisy nothing about....stereotyping....at all.

In the NFL there are no starting white running backs or corner backs. The reason is that they don't have the speed for it. Simply another fact. When we come across something this overwelming a word like....stereotyping....doesn't belong. Go with.....those are the facts.

Like I mentioned somewhere back there, it's this size with speed combo that is totally unique to black athletes. 200 pounders with speed, guys 6-3 and taller with jets. There has never been a white Bo Jackson or Herschel Walker or a white Tommie Smith or Randy Moss. How can anyone not see this?

You're right. I can't imagine what I was thinking. I just looked at pictures from recent finals, they ALL had black eyes and black hair. I can tell you right now, I'm off to China to find the next speed kings.

Ridiculous, of course. And that's because when you say black that isn't what you mean at all. You don't even mean African. Your incorrect use of terminology and stereotypes leave your arguments with more holes than a colander. It also makes it impossible to have a meaningful discussion.

Why has this thread not been locked or the poster banned? This argument is both politics and religion for Avante aka Brutal aka Texas. He's been banned for this same race-baiting crap before, why is it being tolerated now? And why is it only blacks and sprinting? This thread could have gone in any OTHER direction but he always takes it HERE.

We will never see a great white female American 100m sprinter.....fact! Simply...reality..

White, American, women, sprinters -and great- have been conveniently (and stupidly) separated from Europeans in an attempt to justify his 'views'; yet Caribbean Blacks, African Americans and Western Blacks are all one race?

Why would anyone spend so much time an effort creating such a silly database?
Then why can't Avante refrain from restating all the crapola that he knows always brings a shitstorm of criticism?
And why do we all engage the Brutexavante when he goes off on his irrational rants?
I admit I can't resist... I still want to see the rancher with the 8 kids organizing a bunch of relays and B-ball tourneys But I think we should add some rodeo events, too, when the kids come of age.

Let Professor Lonewolf clear this all up for you.
As I (mostly) watched the sturm and drang from the sidelines, it became obvious to me that the the root of this discussion was, as it frequently is, semantics based on the warring factions knowledge and understanding of the sermon topic.

A lot of people have spent a lifetime trying to define and classify "race." I took a short cut and spent an educational evening researching beyond Wikipedia. Here is my understanding of the current concensus of anthropologists and those generally recognized as authorities on "race". Some will already know this stuff better than I but since I did not know much of it there may be other unenlightened souls among us. So..

All modern humans belong the the species Homo sapiens. Race is a sociological concept with no biological basis. In the Middle Ages, race was largely geographic or religious.
About three hundred years ago, the concept evolved of classifying humans on the basis of observable physical characteristics. The three broad groups being Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid, with subsets within each group. In the last century, science has learned there are more genetic differences within the groups than in humans overall and concluded there is no such thing as racial species.

For a while, some anthropologists preferred the term "ethnicity" but now that is generally accepted as being a geographic/culture classification.

It is now generally held that what most people perceive as "race" is actually the result of mutation of a gene producing a physical trait that is replicated and amplified by generations within a population in a isolated geographic area until it becomes the norm in that area and is retained when transported to new areas. The effect of these genes may, or may not, be diluted in individuals by breeding with a different set of genes. Mutations can be good bad or indifferent. Sickle cell anemia, bad. Long third toe/skin/ hair color, indifferent. Ability to run and jump, good.

So, when we observe that young men/women with dark skin/hair/eyes and physical characteristics commonly perceived as Negroid/colored/black/Afro-American, tend to excel in certain physical activities, we are really observing homo sapiens who have inherited mutant genes that give them that capability.

Of course there are individuals with comparable athletic capabilities who may, or may not, have these athletic genes which are not visibly manifested; just as there are "blacks" who do not have the magic genes but, undeniably, the preponderance of elite sprinters possess the gene that resides with humans of Negroid ancestry. I cannot see how that is any sense a derogatory observation.

The term "race" may be scientifically inaccurate but the fact is, it is widely recognized and used in every day society to identify/describe people.

I contend everyone is right. It is just semantics. Now we can retire the thread.
