Yes, professor, it is in large part "semantics"--using terms in ways that are actually meaningful, without resorting to the "popular wisdom" of 50 or 150 years ago. The above sentence could equally well apply to any number of ideas--take astrology, as an example. Do we therefore presume that all sides of the "astrology question" are correct? The key idea I've always come back to is the significance of genetic populations--which your definition clearly points to--rather than the useless notion of "race."
