Re: World Junior Record
Powell, you got it. Nice job. Happy birthday today to Joaquim Cruz. For those of you who saw Joaquim run in his prime, you were lucky to see one of the great 800 men. His 1:43.00 in Los Angeles at the 1984 Olympics was the third fastest performance all-time after running four races in just over three days.

World Junior Record
Happy birthday today (Friday) to an athlete that held the world junior record. This athlete was the first from their country to win a NCAA championship in their event. This birthday athlete also won two gold medals at the Pan American Games.
Our birthday person turns 47 years old today and owns Olympic gold and silver medals. This athlete also has a bronze medal from the World Championships. In winning the Olympic gold medal, our birthday athlete became the only person from their country to win a track Olympic gold medal.
"Athlete of the Year" was one of the many awards this athlete earned from their country. This mystery athlete was featured on stamps from two nations.
Only two athletes in the world have better marks than our birthday athlete. Our mystery person grew up in poverty, but not in North America or Europe.
Do you think you might know this person with an Olympic gold medal?Tags: None
