  • A Chance To Dare

Happy birthday today (Saturday) to an Olympic champion who also won a NCAA championship as well as AAU championships. This athlete set world records indoors and outdoors and won the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Our birthday athlete authored a biography called "A Chance To Dare" and won the Olympic gold medal in a country which is slightly larger in area than the state of Arizona.

Can you name this famous Olympic champion who turns 75 years old today?

Nice job oldvaulter. It was Don Bragg who turned 75 years old yesterday (Saturday).

I had thought of Bragg, but said to myself, "Italy is not bigger than Arizona, cannot be". So much for my grasp of geography ops: . Of course, I never heard of the book, either.

oldvaulter, re your query above above Calhoun, yes, he did indeed win in 1960 ( and 1956 too ) and he did tie a wr with a 13.2, tied Lauer's 13.2 from the prior year. I believe also in 1960... somewhere in Switzerland... Berne maybe ?
