    Re: '60 OG prediction

The 1960 prediction was in a German magazine. And it was not anybody mentioned so far.

Yes, Lusis was the answer to '72.

As for '60 how about Janusz Sidlo?

as to 1960, if it was a German article, I'll guess it was Kaufman, who had run a swift 45.4 in the German trials.

Here's what the T&FN 6-man panel said about favorites (number in parens is number of 1st-place votes each got) (*=actually won):

          Norton (4)
          Norton (6)
          Singh (3)
          Kerr (4)
          Elliott (6)*
          Krzyzskowiak (6)*
          Pirie/Halberg* (3s)
          Halberg (5)
          Popov (3)
          Calhoun (6)*
          Davis (6)*
          US (6)
          US (6)*
          Thomas (6)
          Bragg (5)*
          Boston (4)*
          Schmidt (6)*
          Nieder (4)*
          Oerter (5)*
          Connolly (6)
          Alley/Lievore/Cantello (2s)
          Johnson (6)*

So much for my Sidlo guess!

Hm-m-m-m. I wonder if gh will kick me off the Board if I point out that he misspelled Krzyszkowiak?

                Okay, enough.
The article said that only John Thomas and Don Bragg were shoo-ins.
