  • Track Streaks

What is the last year you did not attend a track meet? In other words, how far back do you have to go to find a calendar year in which you did not go to a track meet? Cross country meets do not count. Let's say it has to be a high school, college, or an invitational track meet. Junior high or elementary school meets will not count.

I was thinking about this today and came up with 1961 for myself. That means that I have been to a track meet every year since 1962 (including 1962). Since I went to a meet this year, my streak is still going.

How about you? I'm sure we'll have some very long streaks and maybe some short ones. Should be interesting.

    Re: Track Streaks

This took some ruminating and research. I have competed/watched/officiated a track meet at HS level or above every calendar year commencing in 1943; possibly earlier.
I ran in my first "county meet" in 1938 at age 6 and in elementary and junior high meets every year thereafter until entering HS in 1945. Some JH meets may have been in conjunction with HS meets but cannot be sure.

You guys are going to be tough to beat for the longest streak. Cordner Nelson had a long streak, but he may have missed some years due to World War II.
