The IAAF has published a big new book with more info on the World Cross results than anyone would ever want...

Re: International Cross Country Champs 1966-1972

The IAAF book has complete results of the official IAAF World Champs, which started in 1973, but only lists medallists for the earlier, unofficial championships.

If you mean the big green book from IAAF
"The toughest race in the world"
it only covers the IAAF-era 1973-2002.

        Still hope for help

Thank you for Lakin, Smith and O'Reilly. Any clue about the other guys?
I suppose the results or at least the american participants ought to be listed in the Trackandfield News in March/April for the years above (1966,1968,1969,1970,1971,1972).

The US didn't send a team in '73.

Then it's interesting that the US won bronze in the women's team event that year. It's quite an achievement considering they didn't send a team :-P

You might be right about the women, I don't know. I assure you that we did not send a men's team to Belgium.

An old TFN says "thanks to lack of funds from the AAU."

Yes, there was no Men's team in Belgium 1973, but the women won bronze with an injured Doris Brown in 15th place. It looks like some out there still got the old TFN. Also for 1966-1972?
                        Would be great!
