Yes, very sad.

Herb was one of the giants of the Philly road race community of the '60s and '70s. Those were the days when I could run although I never saw anything but the back of Herb's shirt, and even then only for the first half mile or so.

I remember Lorenz well. One of his best years was 1970, when he had the 6th US best performance, 2:20:40, and 3 other marathons under 2:30.
