Happy 76th birthday today (Sunday) to an Olympic Games champion from 55 years ago! This man competed in two Olympic Games and won the gold medal at his first Games.

Our birthday champion competed in different events at his two Olympics. In other words, he did not compete in the same event, in which he won the gold medal, at the Olympic Games. At his first Games he won the gold medal and at his second Games, he competed in a different event.

He was not the favorite going into the Olympic final, but he managed to defeat a strong field. The first eight in the final beat the existing Olympic record!

His wife's name is Joan. He was a NCAA champion. Economics was his major in college. He is not the only Olympic champion in track and field to graduate from his college.

This Olympic champion has the same initials as a famous singer who was also born in March, 67 years ago. This famous singer also appeared in some films during his career. Here are a few of those films: "Tommy" in 1975, "The Beggar's Opera" in 1983, "Mack The Knife" in 1990, and "Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula" in 2000.

I know you know this Olympic Games gold medalist. Name him.

Ron Delany it is. Very good, LopenUupunut. Of course Delany won the 1956 Olympic 1,500 and made the Olympic team again, in 1960, where he ran the 800 meters.

Ron Delany and Roger Daltrey have the same initials.

      Happy birthday Ron Delany.
