    Rob,

Any particular highlights in Heike's autobiography? Also, have any of the other East German Greats published autobiographies?

And more to the point, have any of them been translated into English?

    Rog

PS Although it's not an actual biography, Frances Edmonds wrote a novel called "Sprinter" which is one of the worst books I have ever read. I don't think I've read any biographies that came across as anything more than a ghost-written opportunistic cash-in following an athlete's major success.

One that got very little publicity and dealt with certain issues in a non-schoolboy manner was Vince Matthews' " My Race Be Won". Anyone remember it ? I do not have a copy, but read it a good 20+ years ago.

I enjoyed Marty Liquori's "On The Run" very much myself. I first read it as a senior in high school while I worked at an Athletic Attic (chain he started). Have re-read it many times.

I have it on my bookcase at home. Enjoyable book, although I must admit I haven't reread it in years. The pictures in the book are pretty good as well.

My favourite would be Bill Rogers' "Marathoning" published in 1980. I was just making my running "comeback" - as a marathon runner - when I read this book. It was really inspiring, and kept me going through a very hard winter.
