    So I wonder how the false birthday of 24 Mar got into normally reliable sources? It's not like Bolding was born in the Rift Valley without a birth certificate.

      Big turnout for Bolding's memorial service.. not a funeral atmosphere at all. although he had been battling cancer for several years ,with two remissions, the casual observer would not have known he was ill... he had gracefully accepted the inevitable and those around him had time to adapt..... multiple eulogies from both family and friends, several generations of former OSU track guys were represented though, strangely, I only saw two of his contemporaries.. one of those came from Colorado, the other local..
      It was 112F when we left the church..one wag commented that he was certain Jim had gone to Heaven but if, by some mistake, he was in Hell, at least it had to be cooler there than in Stillwater, Oklahoma today. not offense intended or taken.
