Hmmm...tough to leave out Henry Thomas and Jeremy Wariner I think. Of course Baylor and UCLA have had so many great 400 runners. I suppose Wariner hasn't proven himself as much as the others but by the time hes done it will be hard to leave him off.

Being a buckeye, I will only speak for Ohio State. Pierce is 'Andrew' who also ran a 1:47.0 split in his one and only 800 leg at Penn. There was a good sprinter by the name of 'Aaron' Payne who you may be confusing with Pierce. I would replace Coombs with Gene Cole. '52 4X$ silver medalist with a :45.5 split at Helsinki. I would also consider Robert Smith, of Vikings fame, and possibly see if Mr. Owens could stretch out to a 400 worthy of this team.

there's no way you can leave Kevin Young off of that UCLA squad. In fact, you might as well leave that whole '88 team intact since they were probably the only relay to ever break 3.

I would not write off Arizona State. Their two weakest legs (Freeman and Frazier) were both Olympic medalists at 400m.

You can chop it all anyway you want but Baylor without question wins any all-time 4x400 meter race. M.J. running from behind would only make him go 42 low and I really don't think they would be that far behind UCLA.

I once talked with long-time Denison coach Bob Shannon on the topic of coaching Herman Frazier at a DIII college. Coach Shannon said, "After Herman's freshman year I went to him and said, 'You know Herm, you are just way too talented for a coach like me. Come into my office and we will discuss where you should transfer.'" I don't know if it actually played out like that, but that was Bob's story.
